I have built my reputation guiding organisations across Europe and Australia to create change with ease for over 25 years. An organisational psychologist and management consultant, my coaching has been cited by Harvard’s Institute of Coaching and I co-edit an international journal on organisational change.

I have a breadth of experience across culture, strategy, complex change for leaders, coaching, performance.

My clients include Optus, PwC, Salvation Army, Bongiorno Group, Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions, Deloitte, Suez Group, The Co-operative Group, ANZ, Department of Agriculture Water and Environment, Highways England, Countrywide, NHS, Coppenrath & Weise, Lucchini Unipart Rail, Colley’s, Halifax Bank of Scotland, City Councils.

Countrywide Plc

To boost business growth, Countrywide Surveying Services needed a culture change that would bring its remote-working surveyors closer to the heart of the organisation. The leadership recognised that it needed to create a culture of strong leadership and collective identity.  The strategy we developed resulted in 5 years of continuous revenue and profit growth, a fourfold increase in customer engagement scores and staff turnover halved.

“Carey’s ability to facilitate the unpacking of complex situations, ensure clear focus on factors that are critical to success and support in building a mind-set that will sustain delivery and ongoing growth thereafter are remarkable.”

Martyn Stones: Group Enterprise Risk Director

Highways England

The Chancellor of the Exchequer had announced a large number of major new projects for the strategic road network in England to drive economic growth, but the timescales for preparing them for construction were unprecedented.  In five sessions with the senior management team we achieved a 200% increase in new projects taken on in 18 months and a 20% increase in employee engagement scores.

“We were trying to face up to change and deal with it, but it was a bit nebulous. I didn’t want to work from top-down theories and models of organisational change, because making them real is so difficult. I was interested in the discussion we’d had about how we could create change realistically and with more impact. Carey's approach made all the difference and completely transformed the culture of the team and enabled them to change. We’ve been able to absorb great volumes of work and people are flexible. Without that it would be impossible to adapt to our new world.”

Jeremy Bloom: Director of Major Projects (North)

The Salvation Army Australia

During the extended COVID-19 lockdown, HR and Payroll Service Desks had to develop different remote models of working.  This provided an opportunity to develop new systems to improve internal customer service to employees for the long-term.  We reality tested the actual effectiveness of their planned approach for employees and the business. This transformed their project planning, from the perspective of the customer journey, before they invested further.

Bongiorno Group

Bongiorno Group pursue a positive employee environment, knowing that coaching may result in the Executive needing to create changes to benefit the organisation as a whole. I work closely with Bongiorno on an ad-hoc basis to maintain the high standards with individuals, teams and the Executive that drive employee retention and good business outcomes.

“Carey's bi-line 'change with ease' is the perfect reflection of her approach to change. Whether it be solving people issues with a few simple words like "don't fuel the fire" or "what does good look like" or changing business processes, Carey brings her delightful and contagious personality to the table. Her global experience with multi-nationals is as applicable to SME's as it is to large corporates and government agencies. Carey offers a modern approach to workplace wellbeing and business transition.

Margaret Mote: CEO

The Co-operative Group

Syncro, the facilities management business of the Co-operative Group, had gone through a major financial restructure, leaving the business with severely depleted employee morale and declining financial performance. Yet Syncro needed to develop new business to be rapidly prepared for a successful sale. I worked closely with the General Manager over six sessions, enabling him to describe in detail what success would look like and act on it. Working closely with his team the business was rebuilt for a successful sale within a year.

“Working with Carey has equipped me far better to take on larger general management roles, and given me another set of tools to approach problems with business performance. The role I am now in is number 2 in a larger company, with even greater challenges, but I feel equipped to improve the morale and improve the business.”

Paul Carpenter: General Manager

ANZ

Agile practitioners often feel caught in a problems that they find frustrating, which slows their progress and creates defensiveness. But change can be introduced simply into their day-to-day work and free them up to make rapid progress. I was invited to introduce my approach to product owners and scrum masters who had a play with it in their most recent sprint retrospective.

“I have personally used Carey's coaching services, plus she has led this session at ANZ. I love her ability to cover just enough of the theory, with a majority focus on the practical application, underscored by her infectious delight in helping us grow. She is a master at asking a question, and allowing silence to enable insights.”
